AIR802® has developed a passive Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) kit or set that allows low cost of delivering power over the network cable for shorter distances. This scheme allows power to be carried on 10/100 networks over the spare, unused pairs of a CAT5, CAT5E, or CAT6 Ethernet network cable. On shorter network lengths, the source power could be the power supply that came with the wireless access point, IP video surveillance camera, etc.
This set contains a very cost effective injector and breakout or splitter component. The injector inserts the DC voltage at the source location into the 5.5mm x 2.1mm injector plug. The DC voltage is then carried over the spare pairs of the 10BASE-T or 100BASE-T network cable. The breakout or splitter extracts the DC voltage from the network cable onto the 5.5mm x 2.1mm splitter jack. Two other models are available which have different DC size connectors: model POEPASS-01 with 5.5 x 2.1 mm and model POEPASS-03 3.5 x 1.35 mm.
